1. Overview:

Leh-Ladakh, is no doubt that paradise
of our country, which holds a special place in every Biker’s heart. The place
that not only is beautiful but amazingly adventurous is so well routed with
smooth and good quality roads that the journey becomes even more awesome.
Though there are uneven terrains as well, but without them how will you show
your biking skills? This surreal beauty lies in the Majestic Himalayas and
Karakoram range and is visited by thousands of Bikers and visitors every year.


One can reach this union-territory by two highways: Leh-Ladakh and the Manali-
Leh highway, both equally beautiful and adventurous, but still different. Both
differ on the basis of days to reach, distance covered, places to visit on the
way, and views.

Best time to visit: May to September should be
the best time to plan this trip, as there is an abundance of snowfall for most
of the year, thus the warm months must be preferred by the Bikers. There are
rains too at this time of the year and thus the route becomes more serene and
views are worth a watch. For the road conditions, weather and views, anytime
during these months will be nice.

Route: Out of the two highways available, which
are Leh-Ladakh and Manali-Leh highway, this article caters to the latter one.
This route is 473 km long and the altitude is about 13,000 ft. It connects the
Hill station of Manali to the Himalayan town of Leh in Ladakh, where one
travels 230 km in Himachal Pradesh and the other 260 km in Ladakh, promising
beauty all along the way. The route covers in total 5 passes and around 20
different places on the way, in sequence:

Manali- Marhi- Rohtang Pass- Gramphu- Kokhsar- Sissu- Tandi- Keylong-
Jispa- Darcha- Sumdo- Patsio – Zingzingbar – Baralacha La – Bharatpur- Sarchu-
Gata Loops – Nakeela La – Lachulung La – Pang- Tanglang La- Gya- Upshi- Karu
and finally to Leh.

The complete trek takes around 10-15 days, depending on different
Itineraries.

4. Places to visit: Other than feeling the amazing
road trip under the open sky, there are many other places that one can visit on
the way:
● Rohtang Pass: One of the highest passes of the
Himalayas, Rohtang Pass is 50 km from Manali and of the very famous
attractions. The pass is at an altitude of 3987 meters and thus provides very
serene views of the mountains and vegetation. Snow all around will make the
place more beautiful and winsome.

● Manali Nature Park: Also known as Van Vihar, the
place definitely will make your trip merrier. It is one of the famous
attractions around the place due to the amazing range of Flora and Fauna that
resides here. Deodar, Cedar, Horse chestnut, walnut, maple, Musk deer, monal,
Brown Bear, snow rabbits, and many more.

● Suraj Tal: The third highest lake in the country
at a height of 4890 m, is the Suraj Tal or Surya Tal Lake that is 800 m long.
The Lake, without any debate, is one of the most serene places in the country.
The charm of the place will make you lose all your worries and just let you
stare into its blue and clean water.

● Other places like Solang Valley, Gulabaviewpoint,
Bara-Lacha-La-Pass, etc are equally beautiful and worth a visit.


There are many other attractions in the Ladakh region that one must
not skip, like The Zanskar valley, Pangong Tso, Namgyal Tsemo Gompa, Hemis
monastery, etc but these places are in the Ladakh region, you can explore them
once you reach the destination, above mentioned place are the ones that one
will get to visit on the way itself.


5. Bikes: The main hero of the story has to be
selected very attentively. Choose the one with good mileage, equipped with the
tires for uneven terrains, comfortable with you to drive, and of course,
