Manohar Ajgaonkar, the Goa Tourism Minister, on Wednesday declared that domestic travelers are allowed in the coastal state starting July 2 provided they follow certain norms. This big decision came post a state cabinet meeting in which the tourism department also permitted 250 hotels to resume operations. These accommodation facilities have to abide by standard operating procedures (SOPs) put in place by the government.
Further, travellers must also know the rules and regulations laid out by the tourism ministry. Here are those main points that one needs to know before planning a Goa trip:
- All tourists must carry a negative coronavirus test certificate conducted in the last 48 hours. Those who do not bring one will have to get tested in Goa at the time of arrival.
- Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 would either have to quarantine in Goa until their test result is declared or have to go back.
- Travellers need to pre-book their stay in a hotel that has been approved by the tourism department.
- Those with bookings in a non-approved property will not be allowed, and the same would be deemed illegal.
